LEGACY

The story of Collectors’ Cabin is a story of continuity, heritage and passion, carried from one generation of collectors to the next.

For over 20 years Collectors' Cabin had been ran by an absolute legend in the collecting world. Nestled in a small town in the Highlands of Scotland, an oasis of archaeological and paleontological treasures flourished — a place where curiosity was nurtured, knowledge was shared, and generations of collectors first discovered their passion.

As a young child, I would save my pocket money to visit 'David’s shop' in Dufftown. For me, those visits were not simple transactions, but formative experiences- creating core memories that would last a lifetime. Within the shelves and cabinets rested fossils, minerals, and artifacts that told stories of lost worlds, ancient ages, and — my childhood favorite — dinosaurs. Within its walls, fossils, minerals, and ancient artifacts weren’t just objects —  they told a story of a land that time forgotten.

Still to this day, over 15 years later, I still have many of these items proudly displayed in my cabinet. Guided by David’s unwavering dedication, the Cabin became more than a shop; it became a sanctuary for wonder, a cabinet of wonders in the truest sense.

Each specimen carried a story, and through David’s knowledge and patient guidance, my childhood fascination was nurtured into a passion we shared — a passion I’ve now continued into adulthood.

Today, it is my privilege to continue that legacy. What began as a boy’s first acquisitions, carefully chosen from David’s collection in the shop, has now come full circle, become a lifelong vocation. In curating this collection and continuing the name , I strive to honor the same principles as David: a devotion to education, honesty, and the conduct of a true gentleman.  Like him, I remain meticulous in recording provenance and detail, believing that every specimen deserves its history preserved alongside it. Above all, I seek to inspire future generations of collectors, just as David once inspired me — not only through the treasures themselves, but through the integrity and care with which they are shared.

Guided by decades of collecting wisdom, and with David’s blessing, I continue the spirit of Collectors’ Cabin — preserving the legacy he inspired.

David is more than a shopkeeper; he is a gentleman, a custodian of knowledge, a teacher, a curator, and a profound source of inspiration to me. His stewardship laid the foundation upon which Collectors’ Cabin still stands.

Every piece here is chosen with care, reflecting a commitment to preserving not just the items themselves, but the legacy passed down by those who inspired me. This is not about profit, but about honoring our name, and the history, beauty, and stories behind each treasure.

Although the physical shop is no more (for now...), Collectors’ Cabin continues online, under my care, and opening a new physical location remains part of our long-term vision.

Collectors’ Cabin endures not merely as a shop, but as a legacy — a space where nature’s artistry and human heritage are preserved, interpreted, and shared for the enrichment of generations to come.
