This commanding amethyst ‘cathedral’ cave is distinguished by its exceptional mineral complexity, depth of colour and overall presence.
The interior is defined by richly saturated deep-purple amethyst crystals, exhibiting strong natural terminations and lustre across the open cavity. What truly elevates this specimen is the remarkable abundance and diversity of calcite inclusions, which transform the cave from a conventional display piece into a complete Brazilian mineralogical landscape.
Throughout the interior, calcite manifests in multiple forms — from fine, dainty druzy flower clusters delicately perched between amethyst points, to substantial, sculptural calcite chunks embedded deep within the crystal field. These larger calcite masses are naturally inter-grown rather than surface-attached, giving the piece character and a strong sense of geological process.
Subtle orange rutile inclusions thread through areas of the amethyst points themselves, introducing warm tonal contrast against the cool purple hues and further enriching the visual complexity. The cave has been left entirely natural, preserving its raw internal architecture and authentic formation.
This geode is a statement specimen, best suited to a display where its scale, depth, and internal detail can be fully appreciated.
