This exceptional Knightia cf. Alta fossil comes from the renowned Eocene Green River Formation, a site celebrated for its finely preserved fish fossils. Preserved in matrix, the specimen showcases brilliant skeletal detail, capturing the delicate anatomy of this prehistoric freshwater fish.

This Knightia still has some scales visible, and the matrix also includes coprolite (fossilized fish excrement) towards the back of the fish, offering a small but fascinating glimpse into the ancient ecosystem.
